On October 31, 2011, I fogged the Financial Aid office at California College of the arts to reinstate privacy.
UNITY SERVICE RECOVERY
My suggestion for the next step of the Occupy Movement is to look at Alcoholics Anonymous as a possible framework for meetings, and as a way to frame the movement.  This framework looks at the movement as a  moment when people recognize their own addictions to a destructive society, they unify to take hopeful action towards recovery to serve themselves and their communities.
General Assembly is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with eachother that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from capitalist industrial addictions.
This idea was proposed for the event called ‘NEXT’ at 667 Shotwell, hosted by Chris Sollars.
A research tactic to circumnavigate complete financial opacity.  I want to know how much debt my graduating class has so that I can study the possibilities of how one might intervene in it. Notes: 1

Would you like to apply to become the artist in residence program at CCA?
Come to the first info sesh this Monday in front of the Oakland campus’ cafe at 3pm.
What is a derivative?  I’ll be at Occupy Oakland and Occupy Sf, trying to figure out what it means.  Come find me and I’ll read outloud to you about complicated or imaginary financial terms, and we will try to understand what their purpose is, and how we can make meaning for them.
Last week we went to some banks to ask what a derivative was, and no one knew.
A project in collaboration with Cara Levine and Nicholas Morris, we made a theatre for work to be done on stage in a gallery on the California College of the Arts Campus.  Workers from craigslist or from CCA came to do all sorts of work behind the velvet curtain.  They were paid for their time, but were asked to bargain over email for their wage.  The work they produced during their time on stage was shown on a wall of the theatre, and this documentation of work completed was necessary for them to be payed.  Work included: children’s play, poker tutelage, painting, a collaboration, ‘family’, staring into space, writing, making phone calls, love, email, and more.
